Winter warmers

Looking out across the Maori Lakes near Methven, Canterbury, New Zealand. The thin scrim of ice on the lake wasn't nearly as big when we first arrived, and my toes weren't very happy standing in the shores of the lake waiting for dawn.

Even so, it's always a good experience to get out into the hills and enjoy the countryside. I haven't explored this area much, and at only a couple of hours' drive from home I really don't have a good excuse..
